In 1939, when he was just 18 years old, he had joined the RAF on a short-service mission. 2018-07-20 Geoffrey Wellum married Grace Christian in September 1943. The marriage was later dissolved. Their son and daughter survive him and a second daughter predeceased him. Geoffrey Wellum, born August 4 1921, died July 18 2018.
